Asian Formula Renault Championship (AFR) comes to Zhuhai International Circuit (ZIC) again on 4 th October 2008, as a support race for the China Circuit Championship (Zhuhai Round). AFR is jointly promoted by Formula Racing Developments (FRD) and Zhuhai International Circuit.

The weather is highly unstable. The changeable weather makes qualifying results difficult to predict. At 4:50pm, Asian Formula Renault's qualifying begins. Right from the start, ART Motorsports' Rio Hayranto immediately goes out and set some quick times. PSR Team's Cao Hong-Wei, from Changsha, Hunan, also shows his skills. Compared to these two, Jim Ka To and point table leader, no. 26 Geoffrey Kwong are relatively low key.

Finally, ART Motorsport's Rio Hayranto sets the fastest lap 1:37.458 for pole position. PSR Team's Cao Hong-Wei sets a time of 1:37.798 to take second place on the grid. Third on the grid is Jim Ka To.

In the race tomorrow, two 15 year-olds will line up on the front row. This will be a highly anticipated battle.

Sunday----Race

On 5th October, 2008, Asian Formula Renault Championship's Race 11 and 12 are hosted at the Zhuhai International Circuit. In yesterday's qualifying, two 15 year-olds qualified on the front row. Rio Hayranto from Indonesia and Cao Hong-Wei from Changsha, Hunan.

Zhuhai has seen large quantity of rain since the night before. At 10:45am, race 11 officially begins. The first lap was led by safety car.

During the first lap all the drivers carefully follow their own lines and positions and run as slowly as possible. At the end of lap one, the safety car returns to the pit lane and the field is unleashed. ART Motorsport's Rio Hayranto wins, PSR Team's Cao Hong-Wei takes second while Jim Ka To finishes third.

Strong wind and heavy rain hits ZIC once again in the afternoon for race 2 for the day. Safety car was sent out again. After one lap, drivers speeded up right away. As the race enters its 9th lap, red flag was shown. ART Motorsport's Rio Hayranto wins again, Frestech FRD Team's Jim Ka To finishes second. Adderly Fong takes third place.

One second place and one third place, allows Frestech FRD Team's Jim Ka To to close his gap in the championship to Geoffrey Kwong to 4 points. Just as we expected, the season champion is left as suspense. We can't miss AFR's decider in Shanghai in November.
