Ford Focus Cup Race 1

Saturday----Qualifying

After a long process of selection and training, Ford Focus Cup makes its debut today in ZIC. Twelve drivers gathered in Zhuhai. The qualifying started in the noon and Du Wen Bin from Jinhua, Zhejiang province, won pole position. Wang Lang Tao from Kaiyang, Guizhou province and Liang Jun Wei from Lanzhou, Gansu province captured 2 nd and 3 rd respectively. The other nine drivers all finished qualifying safely.

The competition was brutal and Du Wen Bin did a good job by finishing a clear lead of 1.5 second.

Wang Lang Tao, who finished 2nd indicated that racing is a demanding thing both on driving skill and physical constitution. Liang Jun Wei was the third fastest. What they have to keep in mind is ----less mistake leads to a better chance to win.

Ford Focus Cup is using the newly launched 09 Focus model. Pirelli provides tyres while Advanti takes care of the rims. FRD works on modifying the cars to race standard and providing a solid technical support to the drivers. Ford Focus Cup will start its first race (10 laps) tomorrow afternoon. Let's wait and see who is going to take the first champion trophy home!

Sunday----Race

The very first race of Ford Focus Cup started right after 2000cc race 4 and Ford Focus Cup drivers experienced the extremely windy typhoon weather in Zhuhai International Circuit. Wang Lang Tao from Kai Yang, Gui Zhou province won this tough race.

Ford Focus Drivers are selected from the nationwide selection among consumers and they are certainly not professional. Given how terrible the weather was, it indeed was a tough race to them. Drivers rushed into first corner right after the red lights were off and there were definitely scratches. Safety car were sent out several times during the 10-lap race.

After the safety car left, car No.6 Wang Lang Tao speeded up right away and made his way out of the scuffle to lead the race & extend his lead gradually. Car No.3 Cao Xin with a crashed front, car No.9 Du Wen Bin & car No. 1 Jin Bian started a good fight and it was brutal. Wang Lang Tao, Du Wen Bin and Can Xin won 1 st ,2 nd and 3 rd respectively. Jin Bian was 4 th while Li Jia Hui finished 5 th .

In general, the first race was a tough one and Ford Focus Cup drivers need learning curve. Let's count on a nice race from Ford Focus Cup drivers.
