Clio, a supermini car produced by the French automobile manufacturer Renault, has been utilized by Renault Sport Technologies to create one of the most successful one make touring car series in Europe since 1990. As of 2008, Clio Cup has been expanded to 14 countries in Europe and Latin America.

ˇ°More fun, Fewer secondsˇ± ---- the slogan of Clio Cup China says it all. Kenneth Ma, CEO of FRD who is also planning to race in the Clio Cup series this year, said ˇ°Renault Clio is an interesting car. I have a Clio II which is small but very very fast. Putting 200+ hp power on a 1060 kg frame, sequential gearbox and a factory tuned chassis, it is going to be a lot of fun to drive. Clio Cup series is very popular in Europe and FRD is proud to have this opportunity to introduce another popular European series to China which will definitely contribute to the future outlook of Motorsport in China.ˇ±

The new race is also designed to be a series that the drivers can enjoy racing with superior value. Ownership of a complete Clio race car and professional maintenance by FRD and its partners will cost less than half a million HKD to start.

In order to celebrate the inception of this new series in China. The 2009 Clio drivers will travel to France in late April and a fleet of 20 new Clio generation III vehicles will be waiting for them in the famous Le Mans track. The fleet will then travel back to China to continue its new series in China after this introductory race in Le Mans.
