Clio Cup China: Six days' of High-speed Fun at Nščrburgring For Immediate Distribution June 08 , 2009 Clio Cup China had its second race being held at the renowned Nščrburgring Nordschleife track at the invitation of Renault Sport Technologies (RST). The drivers put on a good show for the race, which was held during the RST festival right before the Zurich 24hours Nščrburgring weekend. The team and drivers set off for Germany on May 18th and enjoyed a 6-day stay in the beautiful ancient city of Nščrburg. The race was held during the very first Renault Race Festival, which was scheduled as the 24h Nščrburgring Annex-race. Fair-play, friendship, tolerance, pleasure and honour were the main themes of the event. All European Renault Race drivers and teams were invited to the festival, as well as drivers of Clio Cup China. The drivers will race on the famous Nščrburgring Nordschleife + GP Circuit [25km/lap]. Qualifying 1: RST scheduled two qualifying for the Clio car race with 1st on Thursday and 2nd on Friday. Thanks to the Ą°RingĄ± tour and practice on Tuesday & Wednesday, all 25 Clio cars finished the first qualifying safely. Oliver LEE set the fastest lap among the Clio Cup China drivers, he qualified 11th out of 25 cars (11:03.618). Paul Poon was 2nd in Clio Cup China (11:08.490). Dr.Ma Chi Min (11:13.363) & Paul IP (11:13.993) were 3 rd and 4th. Qualifying 2: The 2nd qualifying started on Friday morning. Paul Poon managed to continue his good performance and qualified 1st among the Clio Cup China drivers & 8th out of 25 new Clio Cup cars. Dr. Ma Chi Min qualified 2nd while Kenneth Ma set the 3 rd fastest lap of the Clio Cup China drivers. Race: The race started on Friday afternoon with 112 Renault racing cars running on the 25KM long track.Ą°It was amazing to just watch the race, let alone to actually be in itĄ± said Kenneth Ma. Paul Poon was the first Clio Cup China car that finished the race, in 11th position overall. Dr. Ma Chi Min was 2nd in the Clio Cup China drivers, while Kenneth Ma and Kenneth Lau finished 3rd and 4th, respectively. The Germany Renault event was very hospitable, with Renault having arranged a large dinner party after the first Renault Racing Festival for the large international group of Renault drivers. The drivers all indicated that it was great fun to race with so many drivers from different countries and they had a great time in Nurberg Germany.
