Clio Cup China series Chengdu race: Double wins for Aaron Kwok

The second race weekend of the exciting Clio Cup China series was held this past weekend at the Chengdu International Circuit (CDIC), joining the renowned C1 celebrity charity race weekend.

Saturday: Qualifying

Due to track conditions, all drivers used rain tires for the qualifying session. However, track conditions improved by mid-stage of qualifying. Kwok moved the best laptime to 1:51.8 and qualified 1 st . Kenneth Ma was 0.819 seconds slower than Kwok and he qualified 2 nd .

Round 1:

Kwok got off to a good start and led the race from the very beginning, he used slick tire in the race and spun at a slick corner and his position fell to the last. Poon, who managed to lead the race for several laps, spun and had to retired from the race as he couldn't restart his car. Kenneth Ma had some incident when starting the car on the grid and got overtaken by several cars. Ma staged another overtaking show and moved to 2 nd after 2 laps. Kenneth Lau, who started from P6, set several good laps and overtook 3 cars and finished the race with a 2 nd runner up. In the end, Kwok won the race with Kenneth Ma 2 nd and Kenneth Lau 3 rd .

Sunday: Round 2

2nd round started at 11:30 on Sunday and due to Saturday's race results and Kwok was again the pole sitter. Aaron Kwok got off to a really good start and led the race from the very beginning. Kenneth Ma lost one position to Kenneth Lau and spun due to a car contact in the race and Ma fell to last position. Kenneth Ma caught up in last few laps and renewed the best laptime to 1:51.065 and finished the race 4th. Aaron Kwok won the race with Paul IP and Paul Poon 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

With double wins from the weekend, Aaron Kwok is now leading the points table.
