After six fierce battles around the country, the CTCC finally comes to the famous Shanghai International Circuit (SIC) to hold its 7th race on October 23rd and 24 th . Changan Ford Racing Team arrived SIC with a 27-point advantage after grabbing the win in Beijing. The four Changan Ford drivers qualified 1, 3, 4 and 9 to start the Sunday race and they finished the race 1, 2, 3 and win the Team Championship with one race to go. Tengyi Jiang and Martin Cao are now tied for the first place with 41 points leading the KIA driver by four points.

Qualifying - October 23th

The unexpected rain this morning complicated the situation. But Changan Ford Racing Team has rich experience competing in the rain and have won three out of four wet races this year. With this advantage, Martin Cao, Tengyi Jiang and Andy Yan took turns to lead the board during the morning practice sessions.

Even Rainey He failed to get into the top eight during the two morning sessions, but he made his move by scoring the fastest qualifying time of 1:22.700 on the 6th lap but unfortunately, this lap time was cancelled due to ˇ°driving out of boundˇ±. He still managed to get the fourth grip position using his second best lap time. Meanwhile, Jiang TengYi performed well and took the pole. As for Andy Yan, he will start 3rd place in tomorrow's race. As the rain started to subside during the qualifying session, the team held Martin Cao in the pit lane with the tire warmers on. He jumped back in action with 10 minutes to go but all the planning was wasted when he couldn't better his earlier time after a car dropped a batch of oil on T8. He can only start from the 9th position. He indicated that he has confidence to perform well tomorrow and support the leading team mates.

Race - October 24th

Tengyi Jiang took over the pole position after Rainey's demotion and made a good start setting the pace of the race immediately. Martin Cao made an exceptional start and sprinted into the sixth position and soon moved into fourth position after only two laps. Tengyi Jiang, KIA driver Lu Jiajun, Andy Yan and Martin Cao maintained a close formation for the next few laps. Andy Yan realized that Martin's car was approaching fast and decided to allow his teammate to move ahead. On lap 20,Tengyi was having some problems with his fifth gear and Lu took the opportunity to pass him. Tengyi fought back hard and made a very gutsy move with one lap to go. Seeing Lu couldn't hold his line on corner T10, he took over the inside line to pass. In the process, Lu's KIA car moved to the dirt area after touching with Tengyi and both Martin and Andy also passed Lu and moved up to second and third. The audience broke into rapturous applause seeing the three Focus cars moved down the grandstand straight together with only one lap to go. And they finished the race the same sequence.

With one race to go, Changan Ford Racing Team already locked up the Team title with a 38-point advantage. Tengyi and Martin also moved themselves to the top of the driver's points standing and the driver title will be decided in Guangdong International Circuit in December.

Paul Hui, Team Director
