AFR Series Rounds 9&10 ---PS Racing's Leopold Ringbom Double Wins in SIC

Rounds 9 & 10 of the 2011 AFR Series took place at Shanghai Audi International Circuit from 21st to 23rd October 2011. Leopold Ringbom from PS Racing won both races last weekend, now with 227 points on the international driver points table.
Qualifying- Leopold Ringbom Took Pole Position
Qualifying for AFR Rounds 9&10 took place on Oct 22nd at 11:30am. PS Racing’s Leopold Ringbom as well as Champ Motorsport’s Yuki Shiraishi and Kazuhiro Saeki waited until twenty minutes remained in the 30 minute qualifying session, in order to qualify on a lighter fuel load and save tires for the afternoon’s race.
PS Racing’s Leopold Ringbom took pole position with Champ Motorsport’s Yuki Shiraishi just 0.053 seconds behind. In 3rd position was Champ’s Kazuhiro Saeki, with female driver Alexandra Asmoebrata taking 4th position on the grid.

Round 9-- Leopold Ringbom Wins Round 9 after Yuki Shiraishi Suffers Mechanical Failure While Leading Race
Round 9 started at 12:30pm on 22nd Oct. When the start lights went off, Yuki Shiraishi charged quickly onto the inside line going into T1 and immediately took the lead from PS Racing’s Leopold Ringbom. Unfortunately, because of mechanical failure, he had to quit from the race during lap three while in the lead. Also, Champ’s Kazuhiro Saeki got off to a slow start allowing Audax PS racing’s Angelo Negro and PS Racing’s Alexandra Asmoebrata to take to the inside of turn one and pass Kazuhiro, but Kazuhiro repassed Alexandra just a few turns later. In lap 2, Sunny Wong passed Diana Rosario who was suffering mechanical difficulties and moved farther up the grid to finish 6th after passing Alan Lee in lap 5, with Tim Teo going off the track in the chicane during lap 6.
Due to the race results, Leopold Ringbom leads the 2011 AFR series with three races to go at 197 points to Champ Motorsport’s Yuki Shiraishi in 2nd with 158 Points, and PS Racing’s Alexandra Asmaeobrata in 3rd with 142 points.

Round 10--- Leopold Ringbom Wins Again, Champ’s Yuki Shiraishi and Sunny Wong 2nd& 3rd
At the race start, Leopold got off to a typically fast start to immediately take the lead, with Audax PS racing’s Angelo Negro making his way past Champ’s Kazuhiro to move immediately into 2nd place during T1. However, Audax PS racing’s Alexandra Asmoebrata, who had started 4th on the grid, experienced mechanical issues on the start and had to start from the pit. Champ Motorsport’s Yuki Shiraishi, who had qualified 2nd on Saturday but DNF’d in Saturday’s race due to a mechanical issue, made a hard charge all the way from 10th on the starting grid up to 3rd place by the end of the first lap. By the third lap, Yuki Shiraishi passed Angelo Negro to move up to 2nd place. Sunny Wong passed both PS Racing’s Angelo Negro as well as teammate Kazuhiro Seaki in Turn 14 at the end of the long back straight while Angelo and Kazuhiro battled under late braking for the corner. The pass put Sunny Wong up to 3rd place. At the checkered flag, it was Ringbom with the win, Yuki Shiraishi in 2nd, and Sunny Wong 3rd on the podium. Thanks to the win, Ringbom now leads the series with 227 points to Shiraishi’s 182 points, and Alexandra Asmoebrata is in 3rd in the driver’s standings at 147 points.
