Motor sport enthusiast, Kenneth Ma, founded FRD in 1997 and in just a few years, he has propelled FRD to become one of the leading Motor Sport event organizers, promoters and racing team operators in Asia and China. These are all done with the sole intention of bringing motor sports in China and Asia to a higher level and provide a solid training ground for drivers.
With this mission in mind and using the European motor racing technology and system as reference, FRD structured a strategy and action plan needed to fulfill this mission. A junior Formula series called Formula Campus was bought in to China in 1997. Three years later, FRD brought FR 2.0 single-seater cars to China and held Asian Formula Renault race's debut, which is considered the best stepping stone for young drivers for move into higher series.
Also, with the vision of developing Motor Racing in the region, Kenneth Ma and FRD have been actively working on creating training opportunities for Asian and Chinese drivers. The FRD Training system has produced drivers such as Marchy Lee, Jim Kato, Jiang Tengyi, and Franky Chang. Most of these drivers are enjoying a successful career in racing and gaining international attention. FRD also has good working relationship with some the of major European race teams. These relationships allow FRD to design a racing system to assist the drivers having the goal of reaching F1 in the future.
On top of the promoting and driver development segments, FRD also participates actively in motor Racing as a ¡§team¡¨. Over the years, FRD has been campaigning successfully in various types of racing activities such as Rally, Formula racing and Touring Car racing.
FRD is currently Headquartered in Hong Kong, with operations located at the Zhuhai International Circuit (ZIC), Shanghai International Circuit (SIC) and Beijing Goldenport International Circuit. Supported by an international crew of over 80 technicians, instructors and managers from Europe and North America, FRD is beyond a doubt the Asian motor sport leader with international racing expertise. FRD now occupies over 30,000 square feet in garage and office areas, sheltering over 100 different racing vehicles in ZIC, SIC and Beijing Goldenport International Circuit and is currently one of the largest racing organizations in China with strong connections to many major International race teams and Corporations.
