Ford Formula Campus 2008

Formula Racing Development Limited first launched Formula Campus into China back in 1997. After stopping for the 2007 season to implement major upgrades to the vehicles, the series is entering its 12th year in 2008 and the series will be renamed to Ford Formula Campus (FFC).

FRD brought over the Formula Campus from France for one simple reason, to offer a technologically advanced single-seater at a low cost by keeping all the cars identical. Since FRD owns, and operates all the Ford Formula Campus cars, all of them will be identical mechanically and in terms of maintenance. Drivers looking for an unfair advantage will not be able to buy extra tires, or modify their cars in anyway. This way, costs are controlled, and the savings are passed on to the drivers.

As a result of the close co-operation experienced in 2006 and 2007, Changan Ford and FRD have reached agreement to implement major upgrades to the vehicles by changing to a Ford engine and incorporate a sequential gearbox to the power train system. At the same time, the bodywork will be modified to reflect more up to date aerodynamic features. The series name will be changed to Ford Formula Campus to reflect Ford's support.
