The Renault Clio Cup Asia Series team championship gets underway for the first time
The Renault Clio Cup Asia Series has just completed the first free practice session of 2018. New for this year is the introduction of team competition - drivers will now have to make smart setup decisions with their engineers, as well as relying on their driving skills.
The Clio Cup Series has also been upgraded to become the Asian Series, and this has attracted new teams from different countries.
HE Racing Motorsports is led by Changan Ford Racing Team Driver Rainey He. The team’s drivers are Huang Yi and Ye Xingping, who both took a break from the Clio Cup Series in 2017 but have rejoined for this season.
HiRacer Motorsports is run by well-known motorsports online platform HiRacer. Its drivers are Jeff Zhou and Yang Chun Lei. Jeff is a veteran driver in the Clio Cup Series and he invited Yang Chun Lei, second runner-up in the 2017 series, to join their team.
Malaysia AFR team S&D also join in 2018. Their drivers are Malaysian driver Harry Chai and Hong Kong driver Frank Yee.
KRC, the Taiwanese AFR team, have attracted newcomer Vincent Wu to join.
Finally, Hai Racing, led by veteran racer Guo Haisheng, has trained a new generation of drivers to race in the series - Zhuang Yifeng, Ouyang Zhenwei and Feng Ziming.
