This is the first event AFR Series running three races in one weekend. Practice and Qualifying happened on Friday and Races started on Saturday. Joey Alders secured the pole position for three races while Bruno Carneiro and Sandro Tavartkiladze took the 2nd and 3rd position. Joey made a lap 2:04:016 the fastest lap of this event.

He took the flag and a well deserved win in the last race of this event.

Behind the leading pair, Sandro Tavartkiladze, Stephen Hong, Elias Niskanen were battling closely. Chinese driver Stephen Hong crossed the finish line in third for race 1, Sandro Tavartkiladze increased pace and snatched the podium place in race 2 and race 3.

Neric Wei repeated the first place-finish, claiming the Champion of Master Class, Erwin Boon was second at the flag in the Master Class.

After 7 races, two BlackArts Racing drivers, one Asia Racing Team driver and one PS Racing driver remain in the overall championship contention, all separated by just 48 points: championship leader Joey (164 points); Bruno (152 points); Sandro (143 points) and Elias (116 points).

In the race to the Best Chinese driver title, Stephen Hong retains the lead on 78 points. Second in the standings lies Ni Weiliang on 72 points.

Joey Alders: Great weekend at Sepang! Fastest at Free Practice, 2 times pole, two wins and race 3 a P2! Had fun and great races. Many thanks to everybody of the BlackArts Racing Team for a great car and the opportunity!

Bruno Carneiro: This weekend I had a great time racing Asian Formula Renault at Sepang! This was my first time racing at the Sepang F1 Circuit. We were closing in throughout the weekend and constantly kept making gains on time and getting quicker and quicker! In race one I got a bit unlucky with a safety car timing and missed out on a chance to make a move for the win. We still had the fastest lap and kept closing in on P1. Race 2 we struggled a bit with older tires but still had great pace with a great p2! And in the race 3 on Sunday I had full focus and had a great car behind me to bring me to a victory! I can’t thank Renault Sport, Asia Racing Team, Rodizio Grill and all my great sponsors for making this happen! I can’t wait for the next weekend in a month time!

Sandro Tavartkiladze: Great experience to race at Sepang F1 circuit. Not a weekend I was hoping for but gained huge experience and good to be on the podium. Hope to come back stronger next time. Thanks to the all team members for great car and the weekend.

Stephen Hong: Great weekend! The sepang circuit is one of my favorite tracks and it was a real pleasure to get on the podium here, even though there was some machinery problems in the car for the second round . But the team helped me out quickly and kept me competitive in the third round to finish fourth and we had a good strategy which was our advantage. Thanks to my family for their support! Thanks to the joint efforts of the team, i believe that the race in september i will have a better performance.
