2018 FRD LMP3 Series is heating up NOW!

After the first successful season of the greatest prototype motorsport event in China - FRD LMP3 Series, it gathered the top tier Chinese drivers and high level international teams and drivers together to build a strong alliance and take up the challenge in this superior grade Le Mans Championship in China.

2017 FRD LMP3 Series had come an end by this September in Zhuhai. Craft Bamboo from Hong Kong won the overall champion with the strongest roster Mathias Beche and James Winslow, alongside with Hiroki Yoshida in the final race. Josh Burdon and Neric Wei from KCMG had taken the overall runner-up with a win in the last race in Zhuhai International Circuit. Andrew Waite and Yann Clairay from PTRS, who lead by Taiwan Celebrity Jimmy Lin, had taken two wins in Shanghai, but they had been thrown into passivity, brining 3rd overall to home for the debut season.

On the other hand, FS Sport that built up by Hong Kong Celebrity Aaron Kwok had teamed up CTCC tri-champion driver Andy Yan and 24h Le Mans driver Olivier Lombard. Although they had a bad fortune this season, their performance showed the professionalism and the skills during the races. PTRS leader Jimmy Lin didn’t feel upset on losing the championship this year, but he already started off preparing the best rosters and crew members for next season and hoping that they can take the debut win in Shanghai International Circuit on 28th April, 2018.

There will be new trophies for both Bronze drivers team as Amateur Group, while 2018 season will bring the series to the newly built Ningbo International Speedpark and Zhengzhou International Circuit, so as to attract more amateur drivers to join and experience one of the highest level motorsport events in China. The championship winners of the FRD LMP3 Series will receive free entry into the Asian Le Mans Series for the 2017-2018 season. If the winner of the 2017-2018 Asian Le Mans series is the FRD LMP3 Series champion, they will be provided with free entry to enter the infamous 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The race format will be a 3-day event, with two 1-hour official practices, two 10-minute official qualifying sessions, one 50-minute opening race, and one 60-minutue main race. Other than swapping drivers during the designated period in the race, refilling and changing tires are not allowed.

 Drivers 16 years old or above are eligible to join FRD LMP3 Series with a FIA International C License or higher. For the drivers combinations, first driver required to have a minimum of FIA silver rating or above, while the second driver required to have a maximum of FIA silver rating or below. The third option will be both drivers are Bronze rating in order to be automatically selected as amateur class.

FRD LMP3 Series had made a successful marketing campaign in the debut season. In conclusion, there were 3 TV Channels, 29 medias visiting on site, 35 live streaming channels, alongside with online medias, key opinion leaders and online celebrities, with a total exposure of 70 MILLION. There will be more promotion strategies and plans for next year which sponsors and brands will gain a lot more exposures in all kinds of media channels.
