(Beijing, China ¨C October 29, 2006)The sixth round of CCC of 2006 is presented in Beijing Goldenport Circuit today. As one of the important components of CCC, China Formula Campus is also presented in Goldenport. David ZHU took the victory in both of the races today and for his supreme performance all through this year, he won the title of China Formula Campus Series at the young age of 17.
David ZHU and Matthew Maslin, who qualified 2nd and 3rd on yesterday qualifying session, have a good pace starting today¡¯s race and holding very steady throughout the race. Cui Yue, who is currently 2nd in the championship, couldn¡¯t achieve good qualifying result because of car difficulties and staying back in the pack. But Zuo Xiao Long who qualified 5th had an amazing race. He was moving up the grid steadily and was waiting for Matthew Maslin to make a mistake and eventually overtook him. By half way through the race, David ZHU, Zuo Xiao Long and Chia On all had a big lead to the rest of the pack. Diana ROSARIO and ZHANG Da Sheng who collided together yesterday both couldn¡¯t shake off the effect of the collision and stayed at the back of the field all day. Although it is the first Campus season that SAKSNON from Indonesia is running but he showed his maturity by winning the race after starting the race from the pole. Finally, David ZHU, Zuo Xiao Long and Geffrey Kwong finished 1st 2nd and 3rd respectively for the China division. Cui Yue who has car problem could not counteract David ZHU to win the championship of the year.
In the Asian Formula Campus series, SAKSNON won both races. David ZHU gets the crown of China Formula Campus series, Cui Yue finished Second and Geffrey Kwong finished third.
The season has come to an end and the China Formula Campus series continues to foster a lot of young talented such as Chen Xu who has graduated to drive in CCC, the top touring car series. David ZHU, Cui Yue have demonstrated once again this series plays a very vital role in young drivers development. Some drivers have moved into the Asian/China Formula Renault series. FRD¡ªone of Asia¡¯s premier organizers and promoters of motor sports has form a progressive training system by building a solid platform using the Formula Campus series, Asian/China Formula Renault Challenge series and the C1 Challenge. With increasing sponsors support, more and more young drivers will be benefited from this system. It is sure that the China Formula Campus will have a bright future. |
