During the 45 minutes press conference, CFMA made announcement detailing the programs that the company will be supporting in 2008.

CCC 2000cc class touring car series

After winning the 2007 Team Championship, CFMA will continue its commitment to the top touring racing program by running three Ford Focus again in the 2000cc class. The racing team, which is operated by FRD, will be making changes towards organization, engineering, and equipment. Both Kenneth Ma, president of FRD and Paul Hui, Changan Ford Program Director of FRD, will be reducing their active involvements in the day-to-day operation of the race team and passing on their duties to a new team manager.

The new team manager, Kent Youlden, recruited by FRD from Australia, has substantial experience in racing and team management as a result of his involvement in rally driving and Australia V8 team managing duties.

Due to the good performance received from the three drivers, the team has elected to maintain this area unchanged. Henry Li will continue to be the lead driver of the team and will carry car number 1 on his car. Rainey He will carry car number 2 to compete for the team and driver crown again. As for Zuo Xiaolong, he will continue to drive the ¡°orange ¡° car again this year to carry the Changan Ford Young Driver Development Program banner. Both Rainey and Xiaolong have been putting good mileage in during the winter months working as test drivers for FRD in fine-tuning the Ford Formula Campus vehicles.

The team will receive support from BP, Castrol and Kumho as fuel, lubricant and tire sponsors again this year. The BP and Castrol product performance in 2007 allowed the team to have a problem-free season and the team is happy to have BP and Castrol back in 2008. After a learning process working together in 2007, BP, Castrol and FRD will work closely together on more functions trying to maximize the advantages gained from operating on the China motor racing platform. Kumho products have been providing reliable service to the team since inception. Kumho has developed some new compounds and construction method to make the tire more competitive in 2008.

Ford Formula Campus Series (FFC)

After using 2007 to fine-tuning the cars, the FFC series will start competition May 11 in Beijing as one of the supporting race for CCC. The series will be the main program for the Changan Ford Young Driver Development Program. CFMA has pledged its support by agreeing to procure eight seats plus practice time each year and provide these seats to young upcoming drivers in China. In 2008, these eight drivers, with age between 15 and 17, will be upgraded to the FFC either from Karting or from other Junior Formula series. Furthermore, Changan Ford and FRD have agreed to sponsor one of these eight drivers to a seat of AFR (Asian Formula Renault) in 2009. The selection criteria will be based on driving performance and the potential in advancing further in both National and International motor racing scene. After the AFR, this driver could be offered the FRD - European Red Bull Junior Team test drive opportunity

Engine Management Company, Motec has been selected to support the new Ford engines used on the new FFC cars. FRD made this selection based on one very important factor offered by Motec; its powerful data logging and driving analysis software. FRD considers this is the one important component that the young drivers will benefit from in order to polish their skills.

Ford Focus Cup

After running the Celebrity and Media Cup series last couple years, Changan Ford has decided to start this new series in order to reinforce the connection between racing and general public car users. A selection process of 12 drivers will be conducted during the summer months; with a driver training planned for September then starting the three-race series in the last the race races in the CCC.

FRD welcomes this CFMA commitment towards enhancing the motor racing level in China and is honored to be selected to implement these impressive programs in China on behalf of CFMA.
