PSR frontrunner Geoffrey Kwong insisted he was the man to start Round 5 of the Asian Formula Renault Championship on pole as he managed to fend off tough competition posed by Luis Sa Silva and Ryan Haryanto. The three, spread within merely a tenth of a second as the 20-minute qualifying session ended are expected to continue the action in the scheduled 10-lap race around the 4.603 km Shanghai International Circuit.
Early time chart leaders and team mates Luis Sa Silva and Ryan Haryanto took turns leading the time sheets before Kwong joined the duo and spoiled the party for an otherwise 1-2 position for Champ Motorsports.
※The car felt perfect for the conditions and I was confident of being able to produce quick laptimes. The race will be a different ballgame altogether but starting on pole gives me the edge I intend to use to my advantage,§ remarked a pleased Kwong.
