Asian Formula Renault Championship races at ZIC A gain

¡ª¡ª From AFR co-promoter- ZIC

On 4-5 th October 2008, China Circuit Championship (CCC) will be held at the Zhuhai International Circuit. Asian Formula Renault Championship (AFR), the hot race joint ly promoted by FRD and ZIC, will come back to ZIC as CCC supporting race.

Asian Formula Renault Championship has a total of 14 rounds this year. The races are held at Zhuhai International Circuit, Shanghai International Circuit and Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. AFR staged its 9 th and 10 th round in the recently concluded Frestech Pan Delta Super Racing Festival. Thanks to his flawless driving skill , Jim Ka To from Frestech FRD Team , swept 2 champion and gained 60 points , thus he managed to make it to the second in the point table . At the moment, Jim Ka To has a 10 point lead over Cao Hong Wei. Luis Jorge SA SILVA, the current f ourth placed driver , has to gain more than 80 points to make an competitive pressure to the top 3, therefore the battle for second is almost strictly between Jim Ka To and Cao Hong Wei .

Since Jim Ka To performed brilliantly during the last two races, pressure has been applied to championship leader Geoffrey Kwong (PSR Team ). Before last race weekend , Geoffrey had a lead of 40 points . He was hoping to capture the season champion ahead of schedule and get prepared for the Formula V6 test organized by Renault Sport Technology (RST) at Paul Ricard. His lead is now down to 20 points. If Kato keeps up the good work , then the season suspense will be hold to the last round.

The 2008 AFR has received strong support from Renault Sport Technologies (RST) in quite a few areas. The main areas include engine rebuilds and spare parts support. This has improved AFR's level of competition and has promoted equality. After these two races, The championship will move to Shanghai for the final races. Let's anticipate the Asian Formula Renault Championship races at Zhuhai International Circuit on 4 th ¨C 5 th October!
