Ford Formula Campus, the hot formula race jointly promoted by Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Ltd and Formula Racing Development Ltd (FRD) got its final fight started in Shanghai TMS Circuit on December 13 th . The race was supposed to bring excitement to the race weekend as there was a close fight started by several young promising drivers on points table.
First round, pole sitter Martin Cao led the race from the very beginning and captured 1 st , while two other young drivers Juan Carlos Zhu and Gaoxiang Fan finished 2 nd and 3 rd respectively. The international category, on the other hand, also put up a good show with Diana Rosario finishing 1 st and Ka Lok Chin, the celebrity driver from Hong Kong, captured 2 nd . Drivers all indicated that TMS track was short and narrow and it felt like driving on a karting track.
The 2 nd round started in the afternoon and Martin Cao continued his good performance and won the race while Gaoxiang Fan and Xingzhe Xie captured 2 nd and 3 rd respectively. Diana Rosario finished 1 st in International category. Drivers all indicated that it was a fun track to go and the first turn was very tough.
Martin Cao said:¡± It is the final race, with the close fight on points table, we are taking it even more serious. I slipped a little during the start and the rest of the race went quite smoothly. FRD worked on the car setup on the fleet and it felt good during practice and race.¡± Martin also indicated that he had some experience in karting, which made it easier for him to pull out a good performance this weekend.
Diana Rosario, on the other hand, had a clear aim¡ªthe champion in International Category. In order to ensure to finish the race safely, instead of pushing hard, Diana avoided any contact with drivers in China Category. ¡°The straight is short on this track, which made it very demanding on the speed of driver's reaction. For the next year, I would like to race in Renault Championship, of course, which will be mainly depend on the sponsorship.¡±

Ka Lok Chin, the celebrity driver from Hong Kong, said after the race that he knew that there will be an intense fight towards the final champion in International Category. ¡°I arrived a little late and didn't have enough practice. This track is in the interest of karting drivers, which is a real challenge for me.¡± Ka Lok had been racing Formula Campus car for 11 years and he was very happy to see so many young drivers and new tracks in China. ¡°Racing with these young drivers makes me feel younger. Aaron Kwok and Sun Nan are very interested in forming a touring car race team with me next year.¡±
Martin Cao won the final champion in China Category, while Gaoxiang Fan captured 1 st runner-up and Xinzhe Xie was 2 nd runner-up. In International Category, the celebrity driver¡ªKa Lok Chin won the season champion, while Diana Rosario and Rich Pham were the 1 st runner-up and 2 nd runner-up.
