The 2009 Asian AFR Championship will commences as part of the Pan Delta Super Racing Festival at Zhuhai International Circuit on 21 and 22 March. As the warm-up race (no points will be awarded) for the new season, Asian AFR Championship is ready with 22 cars going to do battle at the track.

As the top formula series in Asia, Asian AFR Championship has received support from teams, partners and sponsors over the years. Based on friendly co-operation from the past, FRD an ZIC will continue to jointly promote Asian AFR Championship in 2009.

The 2009 Asian AFR Championship will be another exciting season. AFR has been the platform for many ambitious and young drivers. This year is no different, Lai Chi-Chung, Zhang Shan-Qi, Zhang Zhi-Qiang, who will replace Jim Ka-To as the champion? Asia Racing Team (ART), Champ Motorsport, Ghiasports, Modena Motorsports, Ping Tzuo Racing Spirit (PTRS), M3 Motorsport, Dyna Ten Motorsport and FRD Racing Team will all be taking part. The competitiveness of these teams will be revealed at the season opener.

World renowned tyre manufacturer, Kumho Tyres and world famous lubricant producer Motul will continue to support Asian AFR Championship. AFR Race Director Mr. Xu Yong-Shan said: “As the financial tsunami hits globally, FRD is very glad to be continuing its partnerships with ZIC, Kumho Tyres, Motul Lubricants and all the racing teams, so that we can continue to provide race fans with high quality races. AFR is a great platform for young drivers to learn and practice their skills.
