AFR Championship: The Young Generation Leads the Championship

The AFR Championship race 2 came to ZIC as the grand final of the race fans all-time favorite¡ªPan Delta Super Racing Festival at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. The AFR Championship has been one of the most popular races in Pan Delta for its fast speed, brutal competition & occasionally good performance from celebrity drivers.

In race 1, Alon Day & his teammate Zhiqiang Zhang from March 3 team finished 1 st and 2 nd respectively. The former A1 driver Tengyi Jiang from FRD Racing Team captured 3 rd . The main focus goes to the competition between 2 generations: will the rookies be able to win the race over the first generation in Asian formula racing?

Alon Day and Zhiqiang Zhang, two drivers from March 3 started from the front row, while Tengyi Jiang from FRD Racing Team started from the 3 rd place according to Saturday race result. Alon started very well and his teammate Zhiqiang Zhang managed to block Tengyi Jiang's way & created opportunity for Alon to widen the lead. After lap 1, Tengyi was 2.5 sec slower than Zhiqiang Zhang. In lap 2, Tengyi and Geoffrey started a good fight, which means Tengyi would be too busy struggling to maintain his 3 rd to fight with the young drivers.

In lap 5, the race leader Alon day was sandwiched by 3 slow cars in front of him and his teammate Zhiqiang Zhang. The situation wasn't on Alon's best interest as the 3 slow cars were almost lining-up a barrier in front of him and his teammate was approaching very aggressively with only a 0.5-sec diffrence. With only one lap left, Zhiqiang Zhang missed his best opportunity to make the move and settled for 2 nd . Alon Day won the race while Tengyi Jiang captured 3 rd .

Tengyi Jiang indicated in the press conference after the race ¡°the two young drivers are fast and that's indeed very exciting. The car set up could have been better since normally we could easily do a 1.36-1.37 on this track, but my best lap today was only 1.38+. That's something worth to be discussed with my team after the race.¡±
