The first race of the 2009 CTCC 2000cc Championship took place Sunday afternoon. Martin Cao continued his remarkable performance and managed to lead the race in its early stages. Unfortunately, he received a drive-through penalty due to slight contact with another car which negatively affected his position in the race. In the end, Ken Look (Team LF), Lo Ka Chun (KIA 778) and Song Jiancheng (Team LF) finished 1 st 2 nd and 3 rd , respectively. Changan Ford Racing team's driver Rainey He captured 6 th to bring the FRD team 3 points, while Martin Cao and Jiang Tengyi finished 10 th & 13 th , respectively.

After the race start's warm up lap, it was apparent that Lo Ka Fai's car had a problem on the start grid when he opened the door to ask for help. As a result, the race start had a 5-min delay and was started after a second warm up lap. Lo Ka Chun, who started from the 2 nd row, got off to a good start and took the lead from pole sitter Ken Look, with Lo Ka Chun, Ken Look and Martin Cao leading at the beginning of the race. Young Changan Ford driver Martin Cao was following very aggressively behind Look and tried to overtake him several times, eventually passing him in turn one. Cao's flexibility when choosing the race line impressed everyone, with the close battle between him and Ken Look becoming the highlight of the race. Unfortunately, due to what was deemed unnecessary contact with Lo Hung Pui (KIA 778), Cao received a drive through penalty and lost the lead. The competition for the podium then moved to Ken Look, Lo Ka Chun, Song Jiancheng, Zeng Shanxi and Zhang Hanbiao. Ken Look grabbed the first winner trophy of the 2009 CTCC Championship. Lo Ka Chun and Song Jiancheng finished 2 nd and 3 rd , respectively. Rainey He, the lead driver for the Changan Ford Racing team, didn't give his usual flawless performance but did bring the team its first points and is sure to do better in the next race.

Changan Ford Racing team's result in this first 2009 CTCC race weekend wasn't outstanding, but the team made several bit significant improvements that can't be shown in the points table: first, the team made a lot of effort to enhance the reliability of the car and the data from this race has shown big improvements in this regard. In addition, Martin Cao and his car #10 overtook many top touring car drivers, and the laptimes of the Ford Focus cars were almost as fast as the Honda Accord racing cars – this will surely boost the team's confidence. Cao is one of the focuses of FRD's driver development program and has already proved his potential of becoming a top touring car driver by his strong performance in CTCC. The 16 year-old talent has shown the public his good attitude, impressive speed, accurate driving style, flawless cornering ability and aggressive race style. Cao didn't put on a perfect performance of course, due to the drive-through penalty, but if not for the penalty would have likely have won the race. With more practice and advice from the more experienced drivers, he is sure to be in contention for the Championship.

Changan Ford Racing team made an improvement on a technical level and the drivers have already formed team spirit and healthy competition. The team has high hopes for the upcoming June race in Beijing.
