The Clio Cup China series came to the renowned Nurburgring Nordschleife track on 22 nd May, 2009.
The 2 nd qualifying started on Friday morning. Paul Poon managed to continue his good performance and qualified 1 st among the Clio Cup China drivers & 8 th out of 25 new Clio Cup cars. Dr. Ma Chi Min qualified 2 nd while Kenneth Ma set the 3 rd fastest lap of the Clio Cup China drivers.
The Renault Racing festival race started on Friday afternoon with 112 Renault racing cars running on the 25KM long track. ¡°It was amazing to just watch the race, let alone to actually be in it¡± said Kenneth Ma. Nurburgring, simply known as ¡°The Ring¡± by race enthusiasts, is the most demanding track in the world and the Clio Cup race is famous for its action-packed performance. Paul Poon was the first Clio Cup China car that finished the race, in 11 th position overall. Dr. Ma Chi Min was 2 nd in the Clio Cup China class, while Kenneth Ma and Kenneth Lau finished 3 rd and 4 th , respectively.
The Germany Renault event was very hospitable, with Renault having arranged a large dinner party after the first Renault Racing Festival for the large international group of Renault drivers. The drivers all indicated that they had a great time in Nurberg Germany: ¡°It was great fun to race with so many drivers from different countries and The Ring is just incredible.¡± said Kenneth Ma. ¡°Clio Cup China drivers received a warm welcome since day one, and the Ring tour and course arranged by Germany Renault was very thoughtful and incredible fun.¡±
The fleet will travel back to China in July for its first home field race and promises to be an exciting event.
