The ET.China Asian GT Masters' round 1 started a t 2:45pm on 20 th June, The race was definitely a hot one, not only because of the super GT cars like Ferrari, Porsche and Ginetta, there were t wo female drivers , Rang Zhang and Rose Tan, competing in this series. Paul Poon from PASA racing captured 1 st and Oliver Lee (IMSS Racing) finished 2 nd . Rose Tan and her Porsche 997 finished 3 rd and she was the winner in Class A. Rang Zhang, the Beijing girl in Ferrari 360, was the winner in Class B.
The warm up lap started after the track show and the race was a 10-lap's race. There was a pure hand-made vintage official car leading the warm-up lap and it drew much attention. There were many familiar names on the entry-list: . Kenneth Ma, Rose Tan, Oliver Lee , Paul Poon and Samson Fung are experienced professional drivers. With their excellent driving skills and rich experiences, the race was promised to be a close fight.
Oliver Lee and Paul Poon started on 1 st row with their F430 GT3 cars . Rose Tan was in a favorable place on 2 nd row in her Porsche 997 Cup. ET.China AGT Masters used r olling start the cars were all entering T1 at an exceptional high speed. The two Ferraris were leading the race with a clear gap , while the rest of the cars were rushing through first turn.
In lap 2 , Oliver's car had some technical problem and was overtaken by two cars. Paul Poon and Rose Tan were leading the race by then with a 2 sec's gap. Oliver adjusted his pace and overtook a F360 car driven by Kenneth Ma (FRD Racing team). Samson Fung on the other hand had a little incident when passing T14, but he drove backwards immediately and rejoined the race soon.
L ap 5, Michael Lai 's car No.7 went off the track and unfortunately he had to retire from the race. Oliver Lee was driving very close ly behind Rose Tan. At turn 3 -- 4, Nigel Farmer was entering the corner at a very high speed and he lost control of the car & headed into the s and area.
On lap 7, it was obvious that Oliver Lee was ready to overtake Rose Tan. Lee was driving very patient ly as he follow ed Rose for a full lap before doing the action of overtaking Tan on the straight. Paul Poon was the winner of round 1 and Lee was 2 nd . Tan's Porsche was the 3 rd passing the finishing line.
