The 2 nd race of Clio Cup China series went to Chengdu International Circuit (CDIC) on 12 th , September. After the practice sessions on Friday, the drivers got to know the track better. The celebrity driver Aaron Kwok did an outstanding job by setting a laptime of 1:51.883 and grabbed pole. Kenneth Ma was 0.819 seconds slower than Kwok and he qualified 2 nd .

Due to the track condition, all drivers used rain tire for the qualifying session. Paul Poon set a 1:53.6 soon after he got on the track. Kenneth Ma then set 1:52.7 and moved to pole with Oliver Lee following closely behind. The track condition got better after mid-stage of the session and many drivers headed back to pitlane to change slick tires. The qualifying situation was changed after Kwok got on the track on rain tires as there was still a lot of water at certain corners. Kwok moved the best laptime to 1:51.8 and qualified 1 st .

Kwok won the first round with a 15 seconds' lead and the dramatic process was rather exciting. Kwok got off to a good start and led the race from the very beginning. Kwok used slick tire in the race and he spun at a slick corner and his position fell to the last. Poon, who managed to lead the race for several laps, spun at the same corner where Kwok lost his position and had to retired from the race as he couldn't restart his car. Kwok was certainly at good condition as he moved up to the lead and set best lap of the race. Kenneth Ma, on the other hand, had some incident when starting the car on the grid and got overtaken by several cars. Ma staged another overtake show and moved to 2 nd after 2 laps. Kenneth Lau, who started from P6, set several good laps and overtook 3 cars and finished the race with a 2 nd runner up. In the end, Kwok won the race with Kenneth Ma 2 nd and Kenneth Lau 3 rd .

The next round will be held on Sunday.
