Asian Formula Renault championship's Chengdu race held its 2 nd round at 12:15 on Sunday under full rain conditions. After 13 laps of competition, Luis SA SILVA had no difficulties winning the race. Alon Day from Top Speed racing team captured 2 nd , while Zhang Zhiqiang (March 3) was 3 rd to pass the finish line. Rainey He from Ghiasports racing team finished 4 th .

As the race started, the track was still slick and the drivers were prepared for a tough race. SA SILVA got off to a good start and managed to lead the race to T1, while Alon Day, who started from P3 was overtaken by one car when entering T1 yet managed to move to 2 nd after one lap. When the race entered its 3 rd lap, SA SILVA and Day were leading the race by 4 seconds. SA SILVA and Day started a good fight and had close competition (0.6-0.8 seconds' difference) for almost 10 laps, yet SA SILVA didn't give Day chance to overtake him. By lap 10, Rainey He was following Benjamin Rought's cars very closely with only 0.2 seconds' difference for 2 laps. In the last lap, Rought's car ran off the track and that moved Rainey He to 4 th . In the end, SA SILVA won the race, while Day and Zhang Zhiqiang finished 2 nd and 3 rd , respectively.

Race winner SA SILVA indicated after the race that he liked the Chengdu circuit very much. SA SILVA also said: ”During the mid-stage, I could feel the pressure from Alon Day and my performance was good enough to not give him any space to pass me. After this weekend, I feel more confident about my future in this championship. ”

Alon Day said:”SA SILVA is a very fast driver and the track is very technical. T1 offers good passing opportunities on this track, yet I couldn't go close enough with SA SILVA on the front straight, so it was hard to pass him in T1. I am aiming for the champion title and I will spare no effort in the coming rounds.”
