The China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) Race 2 will rock at Zhuhai International Circuit (ZIC) this weekend (May 22 nd -23 rd ). The promoter, teams and drivers are arriving at Zhuhai these days, getting ready for the 2 nd battle of the CTCC season. Changan Ford Racing team will show up at ZIC this time with new look on the vehicles, in line with the main brand of CFMA and bring even more visual impact. According to FASC's new weight compensation regulation valid this season, the Ford Focus racing cars are facing a hard-to-ignore compensational weight, what makes the situation even worse for the team is that other teams might enjoy the race with 10kg burden off their shoulders, it will be like racing with a pilot sitting aside.
After the ˇ°coat +rain capeˇ± STM race 1, the teams are about to enjoy a ˇ°Tee + shadesˇ± race 2, as the temperature is expected to be around 28 ˇăC this weekend, most likely the hottest race of the year. Changan Ford racing team won the last race in style with a double win (driver winner & manufacture winner) and for May race, the team is praying for another one.
John Ling, the team manager of Changan Ford racing team, indicated:ˇ±ZIC is our home turf, although the championship didn't come here last year, the track definitely is no stranger for us. FASC came up with this new weight compensation system referring to the WTCC weight counting system, according to which, each of our cars will be much heavier than our competitors. As for Tengyi Jiang, the situation is even worse: there will be 40kg extra weight being added to his car as he was the winner of last race. The extra weight that we are facing is quite honestly a big challenge for the technical team and the drivers as the speed will be dragged down, severely. We will start test on Thursday, focusing on how to arrange and cope with the unexpected weight.ˇ±
Rainey He, the lead driver of Changan Ford Racing team, said:ˇ±I am glad to see CTCC comes back to Zhuhai, as this track witnessed most of the Chinese drivers' racing paths and is the base of many CTCC teams, including our team. This will be my 2 nd race at ZIC in 2010, I came here in late April for the AFR championship. Me and my teammates will go on track tomorrow and start testing on Thursday. I have good reason to believe that our technical team is capable of minimizing the negative impact of the extra burden on our cars to the possible smallest and I hope we can keep the winning style.ˇ±
