AFR Series joins C1, one of the Top racing weekend

After the wet race in Chengdu, the third race weekend of the AFR Series is traveling to Shanghai International Circuit (SIC) on August 14th & 15th, with the promise of an exciting race in the 2010 Challenge Show (C1) race weekend.

AFR Series will feature 5 teams for this race; Asia Racing Team (ART), Top Speed Racing Team, Team PTRS, Champ Motorsports and FRD Racing Team. Since the annual Celebrity race weekend has always been the biggest weekend of the year so the expectation is high for this major event and all the teams are taking this opportunity to move to the maximum capacity to make a good presentation. Also, they are facing a circuit that is quite different from the Chengdu circuit. The SIC F1 features high speed corners and a long straight requiring the teams to make the proper set up and squeeze out the performance from the reliable Renault FR2.0 cars.

After completing four rounds in Zhuhai and Chengdu, the drivers have been taking turns leading the point table with fierce competition. Sandy Stuvik the young driver from Thailand continues to lead the points table in overall category while the Venezuela lady driver Samin Gomez Briceno following closely behind. After his double win in Chengdu, Martin Cao is edging very close to the leaders and he is expected to push very hard trying to take the lead in this weekend. In the Asian category, Tin Sritrai is also enjoying a clear lead. Chi Cong Li from PTRS team and Martin Cao from FRD currently rank 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Background information;

C1 is organized by Shanghai Automobile and Motor Sports Association (SAMSA), Shanghai International Circuit Management and Development Co., Ltd. (SIC), and Formula Racing Development Co., Ltd (FRD).

One of the main race of the C1 is the annual Celebrity Race and 2010 marks the third years in a row that FRD is cooperating with Mr. Jet Li and One Foundation to support this race.

Renault China has pledged its full support for this charitable event and will be supplying a fleet of KOLEOS SUV for artists' reception and a fleet of Megane CC for the artist Parade. Besides, other companies that are joining hand with Renault China in this meaningful project are; Changan Ford, Dunlop Tires, BALCO watch, Baleno, Tian Wang watch, and Radisson Hotel etc.
