After a better than expected qualifying result on Thursday, Changan Ford Racing Team drivers occupied the 1st and 2nd positions in the early morning warming up session on Friday morning symbolizing that they might had found an even better set up for the new track. The China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) 2000cc class started at 14:30. Wang Shaofeng of KIA shared the front row with Tengyi Jiang. Tengyi had a perfect start and took the lead into turn one. Martin Cao didn’t have a good start and combining with a very fast start by Lo KaChun, he ended up getting himself fight with two KIA cars and one Honda right at the beginning. He was pushed off into the gravel area in lap 2. Looking at his car after the race, it was believed that he made contact with at least three to four cars in the process.
