The curtain is officially raised today for the 2011 AFR at Zhuhai International Circuit. Just as the previous years, drivers coming from different continents such as Asia, North America, as well as Europe to participate in the AFR series which is entering its 13th season.

Five teams are taking part in the first race of the season; the Asian Racing Team, PS Racing, Champ Motorsport, Gold Wolf Racing Team and FRD Racing Team.

In the morning practice sessions, Li Chi Cong from Asian Racing Team, trying to cash in with his hardwork during off season, scored the fastest time during both practice sessions.

 

The qualifying started at 4:20pm. Leopold Ringbom from PS Racing Team immediately put himself on the top of the time sheet and kept it throughout the whole session. He also scored the fastest time in the 9th lap. Juan Arenas from the Gold Wolf Racing Team, performed well in his debut in the series, took second position. He is confident that his time will be improved further after making minor adjustment to the setting. Li Chi Cong, although maintained his fast pace this morning, but only can achieve the third grid position. He was complaining about his engine slowly losing power during the session. Another rookie driver worthwhile mentioning is Wu Ruo Peng who consistently improving his time throughout the week. He will start from position eighth tomorrow.
